SAP HANA Guidelines for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Operating System

Symptom :

You want to install the SAP HANA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

Reason and Prerequisites:

With the release of SAP HANA Platform SPS08 (Revision 80), the support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for SAP HANA had been added.
.
Extended Update Support for RHEL for SAP HANA

Red Hat provides Extended Update Support as part of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA product. Customers with eligible subscriptions to RHEL for SAP HANA are able to remain on a specific, certified minor release and continue to receive security updates and bug fixes for a full 24 months after product general availability (GA). It is strongly advised that customers configure their systems for updates to be applied only to Linux Kernels and packages from corresponding EUS repositories, doing so will ensure systems remain at a release level which does not invalidate SAP HANA certification.

More information on RHEL product lifecycles and EUS are available on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle page.

Technical details on how to access the Extended Update Support channel and download the software are documented in the Red Hat Knowledgebase article; How to subscribe RHEL6 SAP HANA system to Extended Update Support (EUS) channel?
